My first time

“You may be nervous as this is your first time” he said as he took my hands in his and then placed them firmly on his shaft

“Tighten your grip” he said with a wink.

Yup. I  was having my first golf lesson

This whole question of whether I was nervous got me thinking about the beauty of being an absolute beginner. One of my favourite states of being is absolute beginner  (next to expert, of course) because you are so wide open , so free , so loose. No one expects anything from you. It is so easy to impress that crowd.

Plus you get to ask all kinds of questions. And you know how I love that.

In other words, I was not nervous at all.  I was in my element

Maybe  learning all sorts of new tricks is a way to stay young. Green is young. New is good.  Beginner is baby. Know it all is crotchety, closed and cranky.

One of my favourite things to ask myself is – when is the last time you did some thing for the first time?

Today was my first time. Apparently I was a natural .  Sorry had to share that as I am as shocked as you are.

How else can I be my best? Watching the slippery slope to bias, judgement and narrow-mindedness. Best way to do that is to not get small and gossipy. if you do everything to take care of your whole self so that you see the world through those eyes of self love. Yup.  good place to start.
