breaking bad

A group of women, all married for a long time, were together, when a friend who is divorced, said “Any advice for Nance and me on the trick to a long and happy marriage?”

It hit a nerve with me. I said “I don’t need advice on that.”

She meant it playfully and with curiosity and I may have appeared silly but there were two things from it I resist. I don’t like being grouped or spoken for (I can’t help thinking this is from my dad) even if this wasn’t the intent. And of all the skills I don’t have, connecting and having great and lasting relationships is one of which I feel very confident.

I am good at marriage. Very good, actually. I know what it takes.

I just could not make that marriage work.

Take a look at my weekend in pictures by clicking here. It was spectacular
