5 ways that announce I am getting older or better at who I am

I have recently taken up with a short, smooth, high priced Cuban who I crave with a passion.

and his famous sidekick, single malt Whiskey.

(Am I channeling my dad?)

I have been told on more than one occasion that I am way too at peace with my nude body.

I am finding simple pleasures more pleasurable, certain things intolerable and many things can’t live without able.

I pulled up to a friend’s house last month jumped out and ran right into her teenage daughter.

We were both wearing the same thing.
And it did not embarrass me.

over the knee black socks, mini skirts and a 35 shameless years between us.

What about you? Any signs of stubborn you- ness? Are you getting better at who you are?

  1. Loved this post Nancy! Turning 40, my divorce, and listening to my little voice were the catalysts to be more “me” so now I don’t waste time engaging with people who have proven to be disingenuous. I do however tell strangers I like their earrings or smile or high top runners. I laugh every day. If nothing is funny, I do something to make my kids laugh. I leave dishes in the sink. I wear, say and love what is my truth. And every day is sexy underwear day. Wine isn’t just for the weekends and yes sometimes we have pancakes for dinner. t’s a liberating and much more joyful and real way to be. I’m getting much better at being who I am too! Much love to you and yours.. FJ… ps – will be out east in August and if you are in the city, would love to meet you for a drink – for real!

  2. Nance – once again you kill me. You are the only woman I know who smokes a cigar and by the way, only you could rock the small polka dot skirt I bought you at Children’s Place. Keep it up. I find I’m laughing louder, dancing crazier and singing like nobody is cringing and today I bought a bikini. why not? Although I don’t love being naked quite as much as you (pretty close though) I will look back on this body when I’m 60 with envy. Enjoy!

    • Yay, bikini. Love you L and your indomitable sense of self and being alive. xo
