incorrigible

Just last week I got called incorrigible.

I was deeply flattered.

The person had a smile on their face and a twinkle in their eye.

I suddenly thought- I better look the word up.

Incorrigible-(of a person or their tendencies) not able to be corrected, improved, or reformed.

Some but not all (Rabid? Violent?) of that sounds like good fun and the kind of person I want to be around.  But more than anything it is a word I would have used to describe my dad. And he would have known it was the highest compliment. Or, at minimum, he would not have cared.
That is how it is when you lose someone from your tribe who feels like you. You are not sure where you belong.
Today we are a few short weeks from the first anniversary of his death. I am going to tell a few stories about this fabulous, incorrigible man. I need to get it down before I forget.
And then I am going to call it a year.
