My dad loved to swim. I can think of him my whole life saying yes to swimming always. He would say Today is a swimming day or Let’s go for a swim, Nance and all would be right in the world.
A few weeks or more go by, and then suddenly it hits you.
You have not thought of that person even once.
When my mom found out she had this disease, for a few hours she felt lousy, shocked and uncharacteristically, some self pity. Remember, my dad had Lewy Body Dementia at that time with a side order of repeated hip surgeries.
