overheard in the art studio-celebrate spring

“I don’t celebrate Easter. I celebrate Spring”

artist -5 years old

something about this week’s art project I find so sweet it makes me want to cry.

I can hardly wait to celebrate spring.

Everyday I wake up I think-where the @#$% is it?

and celebrate children today

bang on

This week in the  art studio – the assignment was to create an expression and a personality through paint and sculpture.

“I want to do you” one little one said.

“Ok” – How about me in the morning early with bed head and a nasty mood”

et, voila-

I simply cannot get over the likeness.

please take a look at the other new post and send my stuff on to others using the  share button below- it is easy to do and I am trying to break through to my best month yet-24 hours left. I need your help. I’ll buy you a coffee and tell you my secrets if it goes well.

Oh yeah I already tell you my secrets.

inspiration

The single most often asked question in my art studio for children business is

“Where do you get your inspiration ?”

Now while common sense, sense of direction, sense of the serious, spatial sense, sensitivity and, according to my children,  fashion sense- sometimes elude me  – INSPIRATION, however,   feels readily available.

Last week one of my very favourite projects in this school year was inspired by a picture I saw in the Globe

It struck me as colourful, impactful  and amazing that a crowd of so many would have the very same expression on their faces. Fear and vulnerability personified.

It made me think that we could do a “crowd of faces” where all faces could have a different expression.  Maybe that is freedom.
