I love that idea that you should get rid of anything in your life (why would you stop at literal “house”) that is not useful and beautiful
I am a bit of a keeper and find it hard to let go of things, people, memories and stuff
But I need to and try to live without clutter in my mind and in my home- so I try to come around to this.
I have been working on a bit of a useful and beautiful campaign in the last couple of years.
We need to nurture our beautiful relationships and throw out the unbeautiful ones. I am working to toss un useful thoughts, habits and sweaters that I will never wear again.
Running has left my mind clean and uncluttered (okay maybe only that way during the run) and shed a bit of the extra unuseful stuff here and there on the old bod.
Meditating is helping me too. I hate to use the overused- almost- silly- sounding- phrase but it is helping me ‘be in the moment ‘. Really. Much work to do in this area when my mind can’t stop. Ever.
I wanted to fix up my home and make it something of which the three of us could be really proud. It was enormous leap of faith. But it is now both useful and beautiful to us.
I am trying to be useful and beautiful to others. Help where I can, be good when I can.
I still have lots of work to do in this area but I am moving towards it.
Loved this Nancy.
Like you, I tend to hang onto memories, friends, etc. letting go of the not so good ones makes more room and time for the precious ones. Gotta print this one off and post it for myself,
well said Sue- It is like the idea when you buy something new to put in your closet you must remove something and pitch it. Makes more room for the new. xx
