Yesterday you were the girl I brought home from the hospital to teach me about being a mom
Yesterday you were the girl who showed me the world all over again from the perspective of a child
Yesterday you taught me about wonder, goodness, fairness, kindness and beauty.
Yesterday you were the girl who taught me about happiness and not being afraid
You brought music into my life
Yesterday you taught me about everything I could do through everything you could do
Yesterday you were the girl who showed me that vulnerable and strong can and should co exist
Yesterday we unpacked your things in your college dorm and made the bed you will now sleep in. I tried it out and it felt just right.
Yesterday you moved out and moved in
Yesterday I missed you
Oh God! Such a happy/ sad day! I have thought about that day since my kids were born knowing how fast the years go by. Matt enters high school this year and Elise next. We talk about goals, university etc all the time and it is such a positive happy thing, BUT the reality of them being ‘gone’ makes me so sad!
I know you have treasured everyday with your girls so that is the best thing you could do. You know they’ll be back, so still……… Hugs to you. I’ll be at you door in a few years for counselling.
