one and precious

“Tell me, what are you going to do with your one wild and precious life?”

I love this question and I like to keep it at the front of my mind. Sometimes I think of the way babies start- so perfect and open- ready to be formed and take form like a piece of soft clay. And then I think of what becomes of any of us if we aren’t careful. We start off so beautifully but can become so ugly and closed.

It does not happen overnight.

This fear has me both territorial and protective of my good and young side. I am  consistently trying to feed my innocence to keep it alive without sacrificing wisdom and good judgement.

It is both my innocence and wisdom that fuel my precious life.

So while I love this question I also like this statement – even though they somewhat contradict. Click here to see the message in the college dorm that lifts the weight of the world off the shoulders of the young
