I reconnected recently with a favourite client from  when I was in the fashion industry 20 years ago – in a way that is so freaky if I got into it with you you would no longer believe in coincidences. She lives  and has always lived in Victoria BC and her daughter- who I only met once during market in NYC when she was 10, has been a teacher at my daughters school for the last several years.

My favourite memory of this woman is eating dinner with her just off Broadway at a cool and secret restaurant of the groovy and beautiful and HOLY MOLY I see Al Pacino at the table next to me. I mean if I sneezed he would have said ‘bless you’ –next- to- me.  If I had fainted he would have caught me (*sigh,deep regret for not fainting*). He is COOL BEYOND COOL and I am verklempt in a way that is not one bit cool. My face went bright red with excitement and I could not speak, trying to tell her and my business partner who exactly was sitting next to us. We all stared in a very un New York way until the maitre d’ came over and said “is there anything at all you need ?” and I said ‘Yes. Him.’

She and I  started emailing last month and I sent her a note and thought- how can I tell someone about who I am and how I have been these last several years concisely(not good at concise) and without spending too much time but getting it to her on a timely basis?

I looked down at my email signature that contains three links on every email I send out and I thought- there it is – all you need to know about me. So easy. And it felt great. Like HERE I AM. Nothing to hide.
