I love you bekoz you pretek us

We made beer coasters  for Father’s Day in art studio and on each one the kids wrote what they love about their dad.

They were a treat to read

“I love my dad beacause he tickles me to deth”

“I love my dad because he runs with me”

“I love my dad because he is weird”

“My dad is my hero”

“You are delicis” (delicious)

“My dad is a good redr with me”

“Dad is love”

“Dad is mine”

“My dad is my love!”

“I love you bkss you aer hasum (handsome)”

“Dad is foney” (oops read funny not phoney)

“I love my dad because  he keeps my family safe”

Of all of them this one hit me the most-“I love you bekoz you pretek us”.

I wake up in morning feeling like a nurturer, a woman, a mom, wanting to make a beautiful house, with good food cooking and all the things in the right place- nice things to wear and eat and surround us , but I am also the warrior- fearlessly protecting my home, my children and myself. Sometimes this is at odds and sometimes it is confusing and sometimes very overwhelming.

Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing fathers I know and to all the women I know who play both roles beautifully.

My favourite lesson from my dad?- I bring it up on father’s day every year – because I think it has saved/made my life. It is a single word and here it is
