my newest happy place

There is a great saying about Paris- that you miss it before you leave.

It is the same of some people you love, who you just can’t get enough of them and them you and of some places you find yourself in where you feel other wordly and yet so at home.

I have a dozen places like this and they range from over there to over here to just my own bed. And even my favourite pair of jeans.

You are your best in these places. You surprise yourself and the world comes to you differently.

Last weekend I discovered Georgian Bay. I have added it to my list

I was shocked to find how much I loved it. I had no idea that it was the way it is.  Somehow I have spent time all over Ontario but very little there.

I was on an island in a tiny cottage that seemed to have landed on a rock and pushed itself deep into it so it wouldn’t be too obvious. It did not make a commotion, the water and trees and wildlife still ruled and the people were second. Just there to observe.

The trees survived only if they could to the ruthless wind, tilting in their way to it, and the privacy was unlike any I have ever experienced. Late at night after a long kayak and a skinny dip, the wide open sky soon turned so pink.  Eventually it  pushed to blackness speckled with a thousand stars and a moon like a mandarin orange segment hung bashfully down by the horizon line, looking fake in its glory.

I am in love with this place called Georgian Bay.

When I woke up to this and only silence except for the loud chatter of nature, it was a morning to remember. can you guess how many mornings we have if we are lucky? Come over for the official count and a dare to shake up tomorrow

good morning

I woke up early this morning to his tongue licking my back and his hot breath at my neck.
